Phase
1 (1997-2000) Projectroom.com
was created as a shared domain for some friends and artists. Hosting was
expensive back in 1997 and we all wanted to publish and explore the web medium,
so projectroom was born as a shared virtual studio. The other factor was that I’d been through 3 jobs and several
ISPs over the last few years and was sick of my email address changing. Having
our own domain would fix this. So
we set up Projectroom.com in 1997, which was hosted in the US during this
period. Phase2
Unity (2000-2001) During
the dot com boom, we ran a web development company Go NOVA. During this period
we partnered with Class Software to set up our own hosting environment in
Sydney. We built a server, called it Unity and had it hosted with a local
co-location company. During this period we hosted sites for lots of projects we where involved in. www.vidi-yo.com Phase3
Wintermute (2001-Present) The
dot com boom went bust and we could no longer afford the corporate hosting
rates. Not wanting to give up on the sites that we had built and the people we
where providing services for we built a new server. Wintermute was built from a
spare workstation from the office. The server is now co-hosted with Sam Bauers
who runs a similar hosting service viveka web. New
sites during this period include Justin
